Transmission fluid swap for 07??
The 07 V6 has 133K on it, Ive done normal maint over the years and recently realized I havent touched the trans fluid. I cant find anything on it on the maint sched I have, and the manual doesn’t show any info either.
Has anyone done it on their S197? DIY for filling?
With the high mileage I have, can it be more problematic to do at this point?
I searched on MF and found people doing it 30-50K, some mention high mileage may be problem, theres a DIY Im having trouble finding that shows how to fill, taking off shifter boot.
Thanks for any info…

Could be a maintainence free transmission like Toyota has now. I don't get it but i would tend to think it was in line with major failure you just R&R the whole unit and then the core is rebuilt and sold.

No one has said anything about doing a change, maybe it could be as you described...surprising if thats the case

Re: Transmission fluid swap for 07??
OK Juan, listen and listen good, if your not having any OD problems yet, then your in time, but yes it should be done every 40k miles, so get it done, I wouldn't let them do a flush on it, but just get the old fluid dropped and a new filter installed, the reason I said listen good is, Blue has 145.000 on her, and I too have neglected this, and now OD is acting up, I read that a fluid and filter change may fix it, but I also read that it may need to be overhauled, so get that fluid and filter changed ASAP before you start having problems.
As far as doing it yourself, here's the problem, its a sealed system, and if you don't have a special tool or some kind of rigged thing to refill the fluid, you cant get it back into the trany, there is no dip stick.

If its an automatic, the fluid has to be put in from the underside of the transmission.ndnboy wrote:

Re: Transmission fluid swap for 07??
Interesting points, I would say that these nice smooth shifting units need some luving ya know or they will crap the bed. In my original post I deleted I mentioned on my Solara it has a service requirement at 100K. I've changed my fluid 3 times over the years and it has an internal filter. So for what that is worth I guess change your fluid or risk R&R.
About the R&R concept is to remove organic labor at the dealers with lengthy repairs as the complete unit change is a fraction of a rebuild and it is cheaper overall for the customer. I had to replace my AOD on my 90 Fox last year and to rebuild and just replace was a sizeable difference. 3 year unlimited mileage warranty.

Yeah, you have to pull the lines go to and from the tranny cooler and get some fitings and hoses. It is a pain in the ass.

If you are going to keep the car for a while like i probably am, im gonna pick up an aftermarket trans pan with a dipstick and fill tube.
