Re: Springs?!
Ok, let's get back on topic. i really want to lower the car!
i have looked at so many options, my head is spinning. I've thought about buying a piece at a time, but have also looked at different packages.
here's a few packages i have looked at....
http://www.maximummotorsports.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=309_337&products_id=1114
and..
http://www.steeda.com/products/05-06_handling_pak.php
http://www.steeda.com/products/s197_handling_pak_stage_2.php
your input is welcomed and appreciated......thanks in advance.

Re: Springs?!
Laura, both those packages are geared towards spirited cornering and open track style racing--they are a great buy and smart choice if that's what you want to get into. They will really improve the general driving and crusing experience, but note they are not general improvements for drag racing.
There's a point where you have to decide which style racing is for you. You can certainly continue to drag race any time, but there will be a point where the components are working against you. For example, a common trick is to REMOVE the front swaybar for better weight tranfer to the rear of the car. And, I even have removed my rear swaybar and replaced it with a drag-specific extreme antiroll bar. My car still corners ok, but I have to concentrate--it doesn't feel like it's on rails anymore. It would be worth you getting in my car and taking it around a bit and then getting back in your car and driving the same route to compare the two experiences.
The sport springs, by themselves, are ok either way. The drop is modest (1.25 rear, 1" in the front) and won't compromise drag racing at all. You just have to figure out where you want to go.
My twenty cents...

Re: Springs?!
thank you for your 20 cents. and i'm glad you pointed out that these are more for cornering. not my cup of tea at this point. my goal is to keep her as a cruiser and when i get the opportunity, to take her to the drag strip.
that being said, and hearing your input, i think it's best for me to just do a piece at a time.
on a side note: this is worse than figuring out what meal to choose from at Mickey D's

Re: Springs?!
Here is what my car looks like with steeda Sports progressive.
I put these on when I thought I would be open tracking the car. I then found out how expensive it is to open track. I also have tokico ajustable fronts and rears.

Re: Springs?!
Thanks Joe! I don't think it looks mild at all. I originally thought about going with the Eibach Sportlines......i kinda like the slammed look.......but if I plan on taking her to the strip now and again, I don't want to have any issues with rubbing and such.
I have been looking at the FRPP springs alot........

Re: Springs?!
I think the sportlines are more for show cars. I don't see how they can help in any auto sport other shows.
The FRPPs are a good choice, they should give about the same drop as mine, maybe a bit more.

So right now it's a toss up between this Billet fog delete grill I want, or the springs......haha, as you can tell, I am very indecisive!!

Re: Springs?!
lol,
I think I changed my grill before I did springs, if that helps any. (probably not.) My fogs are both in the center of the grill. I've been thinking about doing the delete lately also.

Re: Springs?!
One of those sets are more than adequate for general daily driving and it's not that big of a deal to unhook the sway bar ends at the track for better weight transfer
They say it's better to get springs and shocks/struts at the same time, but I haven't noticed any ill effects of my stock shocks/struts now in about 14 months and 20K+ miles. You rode in it the other day and it seemed to handle those lovely downtown B'more roads
The MM kit would be the best choice there as it comes with the CC plates which although price, makes alignments much easier and precise.
Tough choice for sure, but if done separately, it will be a slightly higher price and the front strut/spring removal is twice the labor

Re: Springs?!
Very nice, Laura! Swapping out and adjusting the BMR bar will be a breeze! I still have to get mine installed, but I did put one on a buddy's car last summer. I would recommend you getting new upper strut mounts, be it OEM GT, OEM GT500 or other as the time it takes to swap your OEM mounts out after the spring install and they start popping isn't fun! It's a relatively easy job, just time consuming and easier to avoid the problem the first time. You won't need new struts/shocks with the K springs. Once again, it will be easier to swap everything at the same time, but is more costly. I have 68K miles on my stock struts/shocks and they've been subjected to the lower springs for nearly 30K miles and they are still performing. My front was lowered 1.75" and they still don't bottom out the struts while driving on those nasty sections of road
OEM GT500 upper mounts are around $50 or so each. My Steeda mounts were $300!
