Re: Muffler Choice
Couldn't agree with you more Zak... I like the car to be just loud enough when cruising, that it sounds great, and I have no issues listening to tunes. However when I stand on it I want it to have a structured sound, where its loud, however has the old school lump and clap... Loud with class...
I am thinking on putting electronic cuttouts on mine for when I want the all out race car sound as well...

Re: Muffler Choice
The Video don't do it justice, it's distorted etc, you'll hear it at the GOOTC event unless the weather is crap. But to each their own, and their definition of muscle and class I suppose ;p
It only screams like that at WOT, not at cruise, you'll hear it like I said

I bet... mine is pretty quiet, until I get in it. Of course all everyone else hears is the BOV and wastegates going off... When the wastegates open its pretty much open headers, since the wastegates are open to atmosphere.
and btw, my comments wernt aimed at your car, more generalized at what I think sounds good. if everyone liked the same thing, how fun would the world be

Yup and they even sound equally different under load, another friend of mine wanted me to make that clip after I installed them, another reason I'm protective of the set up, I put them on, 13 hours on my back, but I did it myself, kind of a nice little accomplishment ;p But driveway exhaust clips aren't really a true measure of how a car will sound. As you stated yourself, you really need to hear them in person and under load, and I'm sure the wastegates dumping is quite a nice sound........one day I'll listen to the whine of my Paxton under the hood (And I don't mean my son, that's his name). But in the end, Revving a free spooling engine in a driveway..........well not a true measure of anything.

Re: Muffler Choice
With an X pipe, you should stay away from the chambered mufflers and go with just straight pipes and some nice tips. Our cars (S197) are very touchy when it comes to the exhaust note... Change one piece of the puzzle and you get louder...another and it turns raspy... Overall, I'm not crazy the way our cars sound compared to '04 and older As far as hearing it in person both inside and out of the car while out on the open road would be Nate with the Pypes mid mount system and the rest stock! I really want to hear the Pypes mid mounts with an O/R H!!!!! That could be yet another muffler system I'd buy... Won't really be a first, as I've bought 10 wheels (4 Cobras, 6 Fanblades) since getting the car new

Re: Muffler Choice
i can tell ya now, i bought a o/r x from nate and put it on mine with pypes violators a/b's and it sounded like a f'in nascar. way too loud to drive around without getting a ticket. then i sold it to my friend with loudmouths and he kept it on for 1 night only before getting a noise violation on his own street. but to each his / her own

Family size green bean cans are a little more subdued
Peel the label off, shine those things up while the ribbed part helps the gases escape quicker freeing up a few horse power...

I have an 08 GT and put the Bassani X-pipe. I had the shop install the x pipe without the cats and ran Bassani Race mufflers and it was extremely loud and obnoxious. I had them install the cats with the bassani race mufflers and it sounds awesome. I really enjoy them alot.

Re: Muffler Choice
I think she had the SLPs but has an O/R X so they are insanely loud and they dont sound right without cats.
Re: Muffler Choice
Will, Zak, and I just added a bassani x with high flow cats to my pypes mid muffler system and i could not be happier. It sounds awesome. Just ask Zak
