Supercharger choice Empty Supercharger choice

Post by Droptop306 Tue Nov 24, 2009 11:11 am

As you all know it is Tax time again. Means funds for new projects. I wanted to get some feedback on supercharging my 08 GT. I was wondering everyones feelings as to what they have or what they have read good about the superchargers available for our cars. I am not looking to make the car a racing beast but something that has get up and go when punched. Please post your oppinions. My dad has a saleen Mustang and I love the feel of it. I was leaning towards sticking with a Saleen supercharger? Any suggestions will greatly be appreciated.

I have used Vortech on all of my other cars. I just cant get over the way it makes the engine bay look so crampy. I am attempting to deal with a guy now for a Saleen SC Kit does anyone know anything about them

I have been looking myself and have come down to 2 super chargers. Kenne Bell or the edlebrock. I could go on all day about them. But the bottom line for me is that both will give me the get up and go I want and they look good in the engine bay.

The saleen would be a good choice to. They are stealthy looking.

I spoke with a guy at Carlisle that had the Edlebrock and he stated that the install was long and legnthy and he was still having issues. I have been looking into the Kenne Bel and just looking at the price right now.

Whatever you go with get it installed professionally. Don't try to do it yourself. You might think you're saving a few dollars but you'll pay twice what you saved in the long run. Everyone I know who've installed these kits themselves always have issues with belt slippage.

I would do the Roush TVS R2300. vmptuning.com has a kit for a stock block that is rated at 460rwhp (on 8-9psi) or so and with a built block and a pully change can go to 700rwhp. It is the supercharger they put on the Roush P51 special edition mustangs. Plus, I think the Roush TVS unit has a 1 or 2 year warrenty. If you are at all thinking turbo check out Powerhouse in PA. I have heard it is a good kit as well and they are not that far away to install and tune it for you.

I will look into the Roush. I just emailed JPC to get a full quote on the best supercharger that they recommend. I am waiting there reply and will post when I get it. I may be able to get that Saleen SC kit new for around 3300, the guy really needs the cash. There goes the credit card until tax time

Also, that blower will make power into the 800s, but I wouldn't push your stock internals past the mid 400s. Or, you could buy a built shortblock and let it eat.

That quote seems high.....way high to me, shop around

www.brenspeed.com to start
www.cjponyparts.com

Check them up and have a calculator close by. And Chrome valve covers.....unless your really set on chrome, take off your stock ones and have them done over to meet your satisfaction, you'll not only save an @$$ load of money, but ya know won't have extra crap laying around.

Actually I reread your list. You know Brenspeed has that Supercharger kit, for 5219.oo and it comes with all that stuff you listed. They charge about 1200 to install it and tune it at their facility in Indiana, and that is still a boat load cheaper than what you are looking at. Seriously if you're serious shop around. And get it installed right.

This is also where a big chunk of cash is going with parts and install.

Hell no. Should only be about 2000 grand with install. The novi is an expensive kit, as well as the fuel upgrades. Shop around on prices for all the parts. JPC will usually match any lower price. See if you can get an itemized list with prices.

4-5k for a Novi2200 tuner kit tops. Shop around though, there's a ton of this stuff lightly used or still NIB floating around various forums for sale sections. You can save a ton of money by taking your time and finding the deals.

I would shop around for parts. JPC is doing all the work on my car and they have no problems with me having used parts shipped to them for them to install. As for JPCs work, its among the best. There doing things I didn't expect them to do, I was surprised to find that they painted my motor, valve covers and other parts. The car is going to come out looking better then it went in.

x2 Supercharger choice 10498 Ive done buisiness with justin (JPC) for years and they've never let me down. They did most of the work on my car including using my car as a test mule for vortech's new V3 s trims and a lot of new MSD parts on the market now. I dont even order anything out of catalogs anymore i just have justin price match them, then he orders it, then i just go up there and get whatever i want. They have no issues with bringing used parts for and install and they will go out of their way to make sure youre car is perfect. And they will share their knowledge with you also. not just tell you what everything cost and a good bye like a lot of shops do. BTW if youre gonna go that route theyre in the process of closing up in glen burnie and moving to a new place in upper marlboro. GL with your decision buddy

Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. When your doing business with JPC your dealing with one of the best shops period. They back they're work and everything they sell. JPC is worth every penny. If you can't afford it at this time then it is what it is. But if you try to cut corners you're gonna pay in the long run.

I have dealt with JPC for years myself and love there work. I was just wondering if anyone had this set up and was it worth it. I know JPC will put your parts on but also keep in mind if you do not buy the parts from them it is a 10 dollar an hour extra labor charge. I priced everything up and could only save myself 50.00 in parts however could not find someone that was selling just the novi head unit. Seems that everything is a kit for 5300. When are they moving I dont feel like driving to upper marlboro, I only live 5 min from him. I will order and have the install done prior if I can then
