Camera help
Ok, so for chistmas my parents want to get me a nicer camera since they took mine. I want more than a point and shoot but wanna keep it around the 300-400 dollar range. What camera's should i be looking at?
Re: Camera help
i've been looking for something like you are describing. Canons seem to have the best reviews.

Re: Camera help
You know how much I love my canon, this is the latest model, http://shop.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10051_10051_229151_-1 you should be able to get it for 350 - 400 dollars, One Fun has one too, and she likes it, it's not an SLR but it does everything an SLR does, and you can set it on Auto and just point and shoot if you like, its what I use on cruises.
Re: Camera help
I just picked up the Nikon P90 on Black Friday and honestly I'm not impressed! I'm thinking about taking it back and picking up the Canon that Ed linked. Crutchfield and Best Buy both have it listed for $369.99.

Re: Camera help
After work tonight, I'm going to return the Nikon Coolpix P90 and pick up the Canon Power Shot SX20 IS! Same MP as the Nikon (12.1), but slightly less optical zoom (20X compared to 24X), but has much better video ability (780p HD-1280x720 compared to 640x360) and the swivel screen is more user friendly! Wish I had done a bit more homework Thursday, but at least I can return it no problems and I did at least get to try it out a coouple of days. Another plus, I don't have to buy a new memory card yet again as both the Nikon and Canon use SD This is by no means taking the place of my Canon Rebel XTi, but merely upgrading my "drive and shoot" camera! It won't be too long before upgrading the Rebel as I've now surpassed the 20,000 pic mark with it, but I still have so much to learn before I upgrade.

Re: Camera help
Just picked up the new Canon last night, but haven't opened the box yet...I will after I get home tonight though!!!!! I actually got to tinker with the display at Best Buy for about 10 mins and it seemed better than the P90 I tinkered with for several hours at home and work... Maybe it's because I've had the Canon SLR and its 20K+ pics under my belt, but I did give the Nikon a chance and just didn't care for it.
Will do, but might not be until later in '10.Big Blue wrote:Kooldawd, let me know if you decide to sell the Rebel

Re: Camera help
Here are some pics I've taken with the Canon SX20 IS the past couple of days.
None of these have any post editing except for resize to fit here. Also, none of the pics were taken in "Auto" either
The camera has a feature called "Color Accent" which allows you to choose a single color and it will turn all other colors to black & white!
It also has "Color Swap" which allows you to choose a single color and change to to another color! Here I chose for yellow to become red!!!!! Of course it doesn't have the best quality, but still makes for a quick and semi painless editing feature.
