My cousin's band is playing at Bourbon Street Saturday night and im gonna take the camera with me. I know someone can give me tips on getting good/decent pictures with the SX20IS. That is if it can even get good pictures in the lighting provided.

best thing to do is use the apperture priority mode(Av mode). Set it to the lowest number which I believe is 3.5. This setting basically allows you to get as much light as possible in the picture.

also:
set your ISO to 400
make sure your camera is in auto focus

If you need more help, I could probably go there sat. night to help you out with taking pictures.

You may end up in full manual as the AV mode won't allow for decent enough shutter speeds in low light. Also, Bourbon Street is not known for having decent light for taking good pics with a point & shoot. Using the force flash will be a must! Good luck, Alex and hopefully some of the pics turn out good Camera questions 10498
