All that and still a hideous ass to boot! I'll wait to see what they do for the '14 model! It sure is great to see both the V6 and the V8 getting a huge boost in N/A power! Take that GM

Re: 2011 5.0
Very interesting read in this month's 5.0 Mag about the new "Coyote" They cover it very very well. The read was quite informative, down to think deep (pockets) for forced induction on this engine. As a Rod swap is necessary. But heck 412/390 from the box?? I'll take it ;p

Re: 2011 5.0
Yep Rods and pistons are a must, however one of the main things I REALLY like is the addition of oil squirters.
These are used on most every import out there, and almost ALL performance applications. Squirting oil on the back side of the piston helps with cooling the piston, and allowing more compression/boost to be used without hotspots, or detonation.
Ford is again making moves to become more technologically advance, by using existing technology. I hope they dont stop there, by using existing tech, but actually be a leader again.
The 2011 6.7 Diesel, made inhouse, named "Scorpion" is another great engine, on paper. Making 400+hp and 700+torque and at close to 30mpg out of a 7500lb truck... they are coming out swining with their new lines. EcoBoost v6... all I can say is I am getting tingly all over again about the engineers at Ford...

Re: 2011 5.0
I sure hope it sells well. I was looking that Apple Ford is selling the 2010 GT's with good options for around $25-28,000. If they keep that up for 2011, oh S@%#.
Will you need to swap pistons and rods, I thought the 5.0 has a forged crank and rods?

Re: 2011 5.0
How much work would be involved stuffing that into the Mustang??? I wouldn't want to know the $$$ of the motor in the first place, but that would be awesome to have!TT_05_Stang wrote:The 2011 6.7 Diesel, made inhouse, named "Scorpion" is another great engine, on paper. Re: 2011 5.0
Ford is really impressing me. I could see an all Ford Garage:
New Focus for commuting.
New Expedition for running around town, and long distance towing to the track.
New F-150 for hauling, landfill runs, occasional local tow to track.
New Mustang GT special ordered with few options for the track.
Next summer, given financial realities, I think the last one is the only scenario likely to happen...I'll likely sell my beloved '97 Mustang GT vert, and perhaps my tired '98 Expedition...

Swapping diesels into cars is becoming a new trend

The New Expeditions are spot on NICE. The local dealer here has an all White one, I'm a sucker for white, trimmed out quite nice with the camel leather interior. Definately Ford is doing me proud. My line up, if I were to hit the Powerball:
F-250 Diesel, because every home owner needs a truck
Taurus SHO - The wife needs to get the groceries in style, and quickly
Flex Ecoboost - Vacation Car
'11 GT 500 - Collector
'11 GT - Play Toy
'07 GT - I already have it and I like mine a lot.

Re: 2011 5.0
Rod and piston swap for FI on the 5.0? That's disappointing. At least the new aluminum block should hold up.
That engine makes me salivate. They needed some "less restrictive" mufflers for that vid, but it sounded AWESOME.
