Speaker vibration Empty Speaker vibration

Post by alkemist Mon Mar 08, 2010 6:35 pm

I'm having issues with my rear passenger side speaker vibrating. The body shop apparently screwed something up. First they thought it was loose, then they said the speaker was blown.. had it replaced today by that craptastic shop, and guess what, vibration noise. It is only really noticeable on heavy and deep bass. Any ideas on what is causing this? or when we have the next get together, can someone take a look at it for me?

could be alot of things. the deeper bass is going to cause alot to vibrate...wires, panels, etc. Prolly be easier to have a couple ears searching for it to pinpoint. Id be happy to help if you still have the issue next time we meet up.

Well, I know my side mirrors are vibrating lol. Those need to be tighten, but it seems to be coming from the rear deck or the pillar by the quarter window. They did remove my rear window to work with my car. I hope they put a good seal on it.

Probably difficult to diagnose on here, but if anyone has ideas, my ears are all open, though I'm not very tech yet to work on my car. Otherwise I'm up for the next get together Smile

Here is what the back looks like all exposed and then how I used Dynamat.

About the only things it could be is either the body shop didn't get something put back together correctly (could be metal on metal or a plastic panel is causing the vibration) or the speaker is either loose or bad. If you need another speaker, I have the factory ones in the storage unit.

Well, suppose we can take a look at it and see what's going on. They actually replaced the speaker today, so something must be loose unless it just blew out again. Gawd, that noise just drives me up the wall.

I think I might have located the vibration when I was inspecting my car today doing some minor interior detailing. I think the plastic cover that goes over the column/roof line is loose around the deck area. I pushed it in and something seemed to clip. Not sure exactly how it fits in there, but maybe a bolt/clip is bad?

Those panels clip in all the way back there. Hopefully that did the trick for you Speaker vibration 10498

So far it sounds good. Hopefully it will stay. No wonder it started only after I started driving, due to the road bumps and the bass loosened it.

I can't believe the body shop diagnoised it as a bad speaker. I had a feeling it was just a loose piece.

There is a certain satisfaction of diagnosing my own car and fixing it. Wish I knew more.

I hear ya on the "find it yourself/fix it yourself"! I don't know what kind of people keep that body shop in business, but it certainly can't be repeat customers No
