drift and driving school
I was wondering if anyone knew of any drifting or high speed driving schools in the area that they might recommend. I would love to learn how to really push my baby to its fullest and really get the speed up without worry of a massive ticket. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Re: drift and driving school
Back in the late 80's early 90's when I was in Japan I'd go out and watch street drifting in the industrial park south of Yokohama. This is long before it ever had any traction as a sport let alone the popularity it has now. Back then it was more about throttle control as the power of the cars weren't like nowadays with 500-700 h/p.
I learned how are one time to not over drive the car once you had it sideways and to keep it sideways and to fish tail it down the street. I started at the back of the pack because I was always spinning out and my car we used was a low power Toyota Corolla AE86 although it was lowered and had the negative camber on the fron ad rear which helped in handling. I left Japan after 5 years in 1993 and kind of forgot about drifting as it wasn't even a real word in the US or California at that time.

summit point has several classes, not sure of the schedule though. Also they fill up fast usually you have to schedule them months in advance

I had thought summit point had the class but wasn't 100% sure and thought I'd ask others about classes and the like

You better check w/ your ins co first. God forbid you wreck your car doing it, they may not cover you. Just some food for thought.

I've found a track based insurance that is per day. I want to say its something like 100-150, which to have full piece of mind I'd be willing to pay for a track day.
