Question is , i have a sctx2 tuner and a tune from bama and a tune from excessive #1 is can i adjust the tune or will i have to get the tune adjusted? and #2 how hard is installing longtubes? do i have to take a bunch of crap out and lift the motor like ive heard or can it be done without all that?

Re: headers question
I know its two different motors but Ed and I didnt have to remove anything to get is stock headers out. They just came out the bottom, behind the wheels. and your gonna need to upgrade your tune.

Re: headers question
Stock headers will come out fairly easy. You need to twist them as they come out the bottom of the car. Driver side is a PITA because of the steering shaft.
Your Long tubes are another PITA to install. You will need to unbolt the motor mounts and jack the motor up about 4 inches. This will allow you to rotate them into place. You will need to be on a lift because of the angle that the headers need to come up from below the car. Jackstands will not work. #2 and #6 exhaust ports are bitches. The motor mount give you absolutely no room to turn with a wrench. Its one tooth at a time on a 12 point box wrench. I would suggest stage5 4.6 modular motor stainless locking header bolt kit. Stock bolts will do fine but they tend to not be finger tightening freindly. And when dealing with headers, especialy long tubes, its nice to have new easy threading bolts.
As for the tune, it is not necessary, for it to run right. Anything after the engine really doesnt effect air fuel or spark. The only issue that could happen is that the o2 sensors do not get enough heat to light, or get the proper reading. However I have not seen anyone have issues with the LT headers, and extentions.

Re: headers question
soo i didnt get the headers on. i got to the shop at 10 (thinking thats when they opened but they actually open at 9 and there was a line waiting at 830, the good weather i guess) so i cleaned the car till 1230 and since i still hadnt gotten a lift i just installed my hood pins and called it a day.
On a side note tho a guy there told me about this burger king in manassas where its like a car show every weekend and i just got back from and it was really cool lotta people there ,bout 10-15 stangs/cobras and 20-25 mixed brand. I think it probably started as a streetrace meet up spot tho cause i went with my buddy whos got a black saleen and at least 6 young guys tried to get us to follow them to some "safe" race spot, buuut he and i both like our cars/license/freedom so we passed but it was pretty cool

i can get some pics but if your gonna be at the cruise you can see 1st hand. and yea i used the shelby mounts, let me tell ya tho i was terrified when drilling thru the hood (and it didnt help that at least 3 people came up to me and said during it "man your drilling thru the hood of that new...wow thats brave"....jacka$$'s) but it turns out its a rediculously easy install

Re: headers question
i wont be making the cruise tomorrow. I have the shelby mounts but differant hood pins because i wanted them to be black. Did you install the mounts and pins then use the pin to mark the hood and drill the hole from the inside of the hood?

Re: headers question
Sorry to hear you didn't get the headers installed, but at least you got some things done. After driving my car on the highway several times now, I don't see any hood shake so I highly doubt I'm going to reinstall my Shelby hood pins. I've heard about the cruisein at the BK, but haven' been yet. At the NVMC meeting earlier tonight, there were 31 Stangs that showed up

Re: headers question
Not a fan of the hood pins, never have been. I think it ruins the look of the hood especailly if it's aftermarket.

yep but i had to mark it twice (once for each hood layer) and i covered the top of the hood with maskingtape for number of reasons also make sure you put a couple of towels down over the engine and front end (huge mess for me of alum shavings everywhere. and as a marker i used mustard cause it shows up real well on black. Im not sure how the right way is to do it but i started with a small drill bit ,checked it,and then used a med sized ,checked it, and then that monster size bit, then got a handfile and made quick work of the rest. Ill ask someone to take a pic today for me and post it so you can see
