Re: Camera Guru ??????
i had a sony cybershot and it was great, but only for liek 3 years....after that it took a dump and stopped taking pictures. So i got the camera i have now...which btw is the same one Ed has. If it weren't for it breaking after only having it for 3 years I would give it rave reviews, however I can't. I just think the camera should have lasted longer than that. It was nice that it was small fit in my pocket and was easy to use, but like i said....it's life wasn't long enough.

Re: Camera Guru ??????
I have a Canon a590IS point and shoot, and for the money it is probably one of, if not the best.

You can pick them up for under $150.
Sony makes okay point and shoot cameras, but they usually require overly expensive, Sony specific memory cards.
You might want to check out www.dpreview.com for some reviews and you can compare different models you are interested in.

Check out Canon's PowerShot Digital Elph line of cameras. I have the SD850-IS now, and even though it's only 8 megapixels, it takes awesome pictures.

Honestly, 8mp is enough for what you will do with a point and shoot. Not to mention the higher megapixel point and shoot cameras are not necessarily going to take a noticably better picture. Once you start cramming more pixels onto such a small chip, the quality is going to degrade and the camera will start having noise issues. P&S cameras have a very small sensor to beging with, so the more pixels the smaller they are. The smaller they are, the less light they can gather. Dont let the pixel number fool you, its only part of the equation....my camera is only 12.1 mp.

Seems to be similar, but it doesnt have a few of the features the 590 does have.
The 590 has more optical zoom (35-140mm vs. 38-114 on the SD1100), manual and semi-manual controls to give you some creative options and allow you to learn how to use to the camera better, wider aperture range lens that will allow you to blur the blackground more or have more in focus, as well as shoot properly exposed pictures in lower ambient light, ability to add accessory lenses, faster shutter speed for freezing action without blur, slightly faster burst rate for shooting a series of pictures continuously, and the ability to run on regular AA batteries instead of a proprietary battery.
The 1100 does have a nicer LCD....lol.
Id still go with the 590 IMO.

Re: Camera Guru ??????
You have to remember, the more megapixels, the larger the pics, the larger the file size, the bigger the memory card needs to be. I believe 16gb or 32 gb are the largest the SDHC cards. The 4gb, 8gb, and 16gb are usually pretty cheap. You can never have too much room for pics IMO.

Re: Camera Guru ??????
Congrats, Juan! Hope youve been enjoying it.
Make sure you have the Image Stabilization on, your pics looks a little soft on the focus. Could just be the compression when you uploadd them to the web, or could be from some slight movement when you snapped the pic. They look good though!
