So I'm building a '90 5.0 and most everything's alright. Two problems before i can call it done. First problem, it will start when it's cold but if you warm it up and say, go in and grab a coke at 7-11, come out and it will either barely crank or it will crank and want to start but not. The starter rests on the headers which made me think the starter was getting hot and would start when cooled but sometimes when hot, it will crank normally, and still not start. Another theory was that a/an injector is stuck open and flooding one or even more cylinders. Fuek-pressure tested it and the pressure steadily drops when at rest.
Also i am getting a high pitched whistling noise when at idle. When i smoke tested it i found a few vacuume leaks that were easily fixed like the pcv gromet and a few capped off vacuume lines.
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appriciated. I've exhasted all my ideas. Thanks for reading.

Tech stuff:
It's got a trick flow top end kit
75mm BBK tb
tb spacer
msd distributor
msd 6-al2 box with 2step
24lb. injectors (i think thats stock)
Aeromotive Fuel Pressure regulator

Thats your whistle

As for the hard start when hot, what are your temps showing? Common cause for hard starts is either the starter getting hot from headers, or going bad, or bad charging system. Put a multimeter on it and make sure your getting 14 volts at least when running. Also check what the starter is pulling.

You will be able to tell if its an injector by reading the plugs. If its stuck open your cats will glow red from fuel being burnt.

bbk's t/bs tend to make the whistling noise, and I have been told they often get stuck Sad 19lb. injectors are stock, was the trick flow kit just upper/lower intake? Or is it heads/cam/intake?

iv'e been corrected. It's a trick flow upper and lower intake, SVT heads(so i'm told) and a stage 2 cam, not sure what company tho.
Just pulled all the plugs and looked through a video scope, doesn't seem to be bleeding fuel into any of the cylinders.

hmmm, SVT Heads? Never heard of em. But just so you know, if it's making under 315rwhp, 24 lb. injectors can be wrong for it. It sounds like the starter touching the headers is your problem though

Also, I almost got the BBK SSI upper/lower intake but after seeing some reviews on it, decided not to. Is this your intake?

BBK t bodies are deathtraps. i dont even see them for sale used much anymore guess everyone junked them FOR GOOD. I had a professional products t body on my car at one time and it got stuck while driving through arlington VA. sounds like a starter issue dude. my OEM 93 starter does the same thing sometimes ive got longtubes too.

yea. i almost kinda ruled out the starter because after trying a little it would spin the engine with enough to start it, it just won't fire. But if you all agree the bbk is rubish and the starting issue is the starter resting on the LT's it sounds good to me. Not my car by the way but it rips.

whistle is the TB for sure. and yeah bbk is sh*t, mine sticks seldomly, although i had a buddy clean it for me and it hasnt stuck since so im not gonna worry bout it. As for the starter.... starter resting on headers== NOT good. My Lts dont come near my starter, although im thinkin i have automative headers not manual. and yeah, 19lbs is stock injectors... ive also never heard of svt heads, at least not on a fox

That's a trickflow upper/lower intake not a BBK lol. Good thing he has the trickflow, tons better. Yea, toss out the bbk t/b and try to fix the headers from touching the starter.. not sure how tho, never even heard of headers touching the starter before.

probably means SVO cylinder heads. up until 92 OEM starters were supposedly larger than the 93 starters. so it was a problem running long tubes with them. theyd melt or heat soak like what his 90 is doing. i melted one on a 87 once after new motor install and a long road test. just replaced it with a high torque mini starter think from powermaster. my car only did it once since i put long tubes on 3 years ago
