Shop for Motor Work Empty Shop for Motor Work

Post by pikuoff Tue Nov 04, 2008 6:19 pm

I know a guy who is in need of some motor work because he decided to rag his car last weekend and now the thing is knocking real bad. He is in the Bethesda area so can anyone here recommend a shop that is somewhat close to Bethesda that he can take his car to and get it checked out and fixed?

PS...it's a great story but you just had to be at the cruise last weekend to fully get it...ain't that right Laura and Nate?

Not at all...some random guy I ran into at the carwash the night before the cruise. He had a rare black on black 04 GT vert with a Saleen heads that was pushing 430hp to the wheels NA...he also had 20" rims and 3 different emblems where the GT emblems go...he also had dog collar (the spiked ones) license plate frames. You get the picture.

But he actually showed up for the cruise and ended up FUBARing his motor. It was pretty comical...if you weren't him.

Ok, well hate to break it to him but there is no such thing as a 430rwhp NA 2 valve ever.

As far as engine work most of the performance shops have gotten away from rebuilding motors. Its cheaper for them to purchase shortblocks from companies like MMR, Livernoise, or ProLine (petty Enterprises).

Exactly. I just thought it was more fun to see how much he would spout off.

Either way, do you know of anywhere he can at least take it to. I just told him that I would help him find a shop. I don't want Karma to come after me...

You know I just read your post again... he said it had Saleen heads eh... I guess I learn something new each day. Never knew saleen had their own heads. I always thought they used the same 2v heads as the GT, and just put a blower on it. :p

Well I guess break the news to him that labor is going to be around 2,000.00 and parts are going to consist of a few gaskets, 3 tubes of black rtv and a shortblock from one of the afore mentioned builders. Or he can find a junkyard 2v motor, and put his "Saleen" heads on it, and still pay the 2,000.00 in labor.

As far as shops, Bernie would know better about down that way.

Will

I don't want pics of you in that garb or anything. Just wondering why you have dog collar spikes on your helmet. I was thinking maybe you have some S&M stuff going on...

Haha, yeah but the helmet is for riding my bike. And it's not a dog collar. The spikes are specifically for helmets. You'll understand when you see it.
