Re: Fuel - carb stall issue???
OMG thats a hug carb for that car. If you plan on getting another carb smallest i can find for edel is 500 CFM. If you go holley you can get a 450 pretty cheap. Or for 700 bucks get a Edelbrock intake and carb, Its a 600 CFM carb. Or spend the 30 bucks for a rebuild kit. And you do not need to have a mech do it. they are sooo simpe, You can go to youtube and watch a vid on how to rebuild it

WTF, this is a PITA, car stalled out again this morn, rode great over the weekend and this morning, then, sputter, sputter again : (
Mech said its def the carb, no other item to check for, he agreed that current carb is big and if I get a new one to get a 600 cfm rated carb, looks like I will be checking out summit later : (

Re: Fuel - carb stall issue???
Yes and no. This is where things get weird. My motor is 1.1 70 CU inchs. I put a holley 650 on there. She ran soooo good. Only problem was fuel mileage and my fuel pump couldnt keep up with it. Goin from the 750 to 600 you will see a increase im mileage but also a decrease in power and torque. You can keep the 750 and tune it to the 289 and make in run better. you can spend the money for a new carb or just rebuild and tune urs for cheaper. Slightly

btw, how long does it take for a rebuild, is it an aft project or do you need to let stuff sit over night in cleaner etc.

600cfm. 750 is too much. I can rebuild it for $125 if you supply the kit. Time depends on how dirty the carb is. The dirtier it is the longer it needs to soak.
Heres a carb size chart.

Re: Fuel - carb stall issue???
The current carb on there is an Edel 1411 rated at 750, thats why I was looking at getting a new one rated at 600 vs rebuilding that one, seems like the consesus is to get a 600 instead of spending close to the same to rebuild a 750 that is to much for the 289
